LE:NOTRE Landscape Forum 2025 : Budapest–Vác and the Danube Bend

The LE:NOTRE Landscape Forum 2025 in the Budapest–Vác region brought together academics, professionals, students, and local experts to address contemporary landscape challenges in Vác and the Danube Bend. Framed by the European Landscape Convention, the forum emphasised landscape as a human-perceived space shaped by natural and cultural processes, with a strong focus on landscape democracy and participation.
Through keynotes, workshops, and field-based group work, participants explored themes including living streets, zero-kilometre local food systems, sustainable peri-urban mobility, renewed city–river relationships, and nature-rich environments for children. Special attention was given to children as both a vulnerable group and future agents of landscape transformation.
The volume presents Vác as a living landscape biography, offering practical recommendations and guiding principles for resilient, inclusive, and sustainable landscape development, while supporting dialogue between professionals, decision-makers, and local communities.
